ANS: A.M.E License is an authority issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation (MCA), Government of India, to maintain & certify the fitness of the civil aircraft prior to each flight. After earning this license, an AME certifies the fitness of an aircraft. Any aircraft cannot fly without this fitness clearance from an AME.
ANS: DGCA stands for Directorate General of Civil Aviation which comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. DGCA is the regulating authority of aviation industry. It conducts the AME & Pilot License examinations and issues the license to the candidates without which a student cannot become Aircraft Maintenance Engineer / Pilot.
ANS: An AME is the key person in-charge of the fitness or the health of an aircraft. Each flight has to go through a Daily Inspection (DI) before it is allowed to take off. Routine inspections are done on strict periodic intervals depending upon the hours of flight. No aircraft can take off without a Certificate Release to Service (CRS) issued from an AME.
ANS: Though it is an engineering programme, the AME license course does not require approvals from the AICTE. Licenses are issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. DGCA coordinates all regulatory functions with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). To become an AME, one has to undergo training from a DGCA approved institute and then clear DGCA exams.
ANS: To make a career as an AME one needs to have passed at least 10 + 2 / Intermediate, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or its equivalent from any recognized board / university. The admission to the course is subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
ANS: YES, the college is having separate hostels for Boys and Girls inside the college campus with 24 x 7 security and medical facilities
ANS: The AME training courses are designed to give students a comprehensive knowledge of the aircrafts, their systems and good maintenance practices to equip the students to become skilled and competent aircraft maintenance professionals. The syllabus covers knowledge of Indian Aircraft Rules, Civil Aviation Requirements, theoretical and practical technical knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and operation of aircraft, engines, systems and aircraft materials used in the construction of airframes, engines and accessories; knowledge of engineering practices and skill in the use of various equipment; knowledge of good maintenance practices, human factors and human performance, necessary judgment and competence required to assess the airworthiness of aircraft and its equipment etc.
ANS: The sector is promising and placements are never a problem after successful completion of such courses. Aviation is the fastest growing industry in India in comparison to other sectors. Sources report that Indian carriers have ordered nearly 500 aircrafts which will be delivered over next decade, 05 aircrafts a month, and as per industry standards, 30 maintenance personnel are required per aircraft. After allowing foreign investments in Indian Aviation Industry, international players are positively looking Indian market. A lot is already happening in Indian Aviation with Jet-Etihad deal, Tata-Singapore collaboration, and Tata-Airasia JV creating more jobs in near future
ANS: Although this course is only for civil aviation industry but, BSF also recruits BAMEL holders passed from our colleges
ANS: There are five semesters of six months each for theory portion and practical. The syllabi broadly undertake the following:
Mechanical stream (Aeroplane and Power plants)
  • Light Aircraft (LA)
  • Heavy Aircraft (HA)
  • Piston Engine (PE) and
  • Jet Engine (JE)
Mechanical stream (Helicopter and Power plants)
  • Rotary Wing Aircraft (RA)
  • Piston Engine (PE) and
  • Jet Engine (JE)
The sixth semester before the BAMEC certificate focuses on training on the aircrafts which is also known as OJT (On Job training).
